Sunday Funday?

Well, a bit fun. Since I last connected with you, dear readers (and others), I’ve been awfully lazy; hardly gotten to the gym and hardly done much of note in other realms of my life. Not going to the gym is on eof those things that seems such a better idea when you have it, than when you have to live with the ramifications. Come to think of it, that applies to so many things in my life from extra food to staying up too late (for nice, sober, of-late type examples) to other overindulgences (before I grew/wised up to the extent I have). So much seems better in the anticipation than in the experience. It may be really that one is best with “that sanguine expectation of happiness which is happiness itself” but sometimes expectations are unmet, aren’t they?

Would anyone be interested in seeing my cardio logs posted? I keep a list of all my steps, my ‘aerobic steps’ and the minutes I’ve done on the treadmill at the gym.

Friday we went to dinner with our chums at a kebab house; I rather overate (big surprise) but not too badly. Saturday I rescheduled Neil for Monday night; C and I wound up going to Annapolis to look at a new oven we’re thinking of buying, partially with our tax rebate check. When we pulled up to the shop it was a bit like lambs to the slaughter; three salesblokes were standing outside smoking and staring at us in the car. I felt like prey! Lunch was at a really good Italian trattoria place called Squisito in Edgewater, Maryland – it’s a local chain; those who know where I mean might want to note that there’s a location where Elsie’s used to be in Severn. We did a little frozen shopping in a gathering wind at a garden center and then went for a very nice evening with my mum and dad; we’ve never just dropped in on them before but we wound up staying from around three to around nine thirty. It was a lot nicer than usual.

After C helped me migrate from Entourage to Apple’s Mail, Address Book and iCal, we went back over there today for pizza with the family. Good time playing “Chutes and Ladders” with my niece and nephew. C is so good with children. I’m always so proud to have him in my life; proud and glad and utterly happy. Even when we’re snipping at each other, I’m just overwhelmed with good bubbly happy feelings that he’s here.

If you have a chance, check out my brother’s blog.

I’m glad/sad to report: Still no eye-candy. It’ll be back soon. I know some find it hard, possibly, or even silly, that I post ‘EC’ or make little comments about it, sometimes in red italics, but try to consider this – it’s nearly always ‘okay’ for straight men to tell other people whom they find attractive. It’s not always that way for me. So maybe they got it out of their systems some time ago. Or maybe they can always wolf whistle or make one of those ‘ugly gruntish calls’ of which I’ve read. On the other hand, I have sometimes to make a little space for myself to do the same. Just saying “he’s cute” or “that one’s hot” is a micro-coming out and I quite enjoy it. Sometimes good things do come in little packages. And sometimes not. :)

So What Have You Been Up To?

Me? Not a lot really, had a good Thanksgiving at my parents’ house, and a lovely Friday wrestling with this site, after waking up at the crack of dawn noon; that evening my friends and I went out to dinner. Saturday Neal the Personal Trainer came and we had a good discussion about my ‘intake.’ I need to do better. I’ve been finding it harder to walk lately for some reason; perhaps it’s the cold. If it keeps up he wants me to investigate working out at my local gym, which is quite daunting a prospect. I have, however, promised to check it out on Wednesday. I already go should go there for aquatics for my arthritis. Can I ask for your support?

It was a bit odd, though; he arrived with jeans on…then after settling his bags and things in the basement he took his shoes off, and then stood up and unbuckled his jeans and unzipped them. I didn’t know where to look. However it was just that his shorts were underneath. I don’t expect he expected to leave them behind!

Sunday (today) I brought my new coffee maker to my office; it’s on a timer so I can have fresh hot coffee on arrival. I hope that doesn’t make me look too aloof. One of the things I don’t like about this more ‘troop’ type organization is the enforced togetherness and groupiness that people believe in, and it seems to get worse all the time. (Ed.: It worked great!)

This Gets Better all the Time.

Lovely Carlos Ponce seems to get better all the time, doesn’t he?

From the Cisoto Fotos website here he is…

…in his role as a special correspondent for “Entertainment Television.” While Carlos is interviewing actress Cote De Pablo about her role on “NCIS,” he and “NCIS” star Michael Weatherby both end up shirtless. Cote and Carlos used to co-host the Spanish-language TV show “Control.”

BS Inclusion

Grrrr. This is what I call bull..er…bulldust inclusion. At work, we’re to have a ‘holiday’ party on 14 December, a Friday. Now they’re being very careful not to call it a Christmas party, so as not to let us non-Christians feel left out. Everyone’s to feel welcome to leave work at … well, their regular time and then go to a community center with their potluck dishes and dine and festivate together, and clean up. I mean, you wouldn’t want people to have to take work time for this sort of thing, would you? I can only assume that while arranging this all-religions, non-Christmas get-together, they forgot that Jews, at least observant ones can’t take part as it’s Shabbat!!!! So it looks all First Ammendment-y, all sing kumbayah-y, all non-denominational, all inclusive, but it’s really utter bullsh…er…bulldust. I guess Muslims can’t really take part either as it’s to be arranged during Friday prayer time.

Carlos Ponce reclining in the calm coolOf course, if I say anything, I’ll be the ‘trouble maker’ who wants to ‘throw everything into disarray’ (and who’s ‘being difficult’). Worst case scenario for me is that everyone’d resent me and it’d be moved to a Thursday thus depriving me of the chance to give up my free time to let our Commanding General think that we’re all one big happy family (and not a crew of arsekissers). So I’ll let discretion be nine-tenths and all…but it’s all the utterest bull…er…crap.

I should calm down; here’s Carlos Ponce looking all cool and collected and discreetly hairy. Doesn’t he seem to be advising cool white linens and tropical rooms, even on this cold wintry evening? (I really should go for my daily traipse in a bit.) I swear sometimes I use pictures like this the way drunks use booze, just to clear my head for a moment. Does that make me sick? I hope not.

Are We Staying Here For a Bit?

Yes. I need to make sure that all my ducks are in a row before I move to my own hosting – I was having a lot of trouble. I need to figure out how to post thumbnails easily that (like the above) you can click on to drink in the full beauty, how to get the tag clouds back, and a lot of other sidebar stuff. I can’t do that while generating content so I’ll postpone the move for a bit. Don’t scrape www.angloamssite.com off your favourites list just yet, though; once I stop typing this I am going to start patiently working through Dreamweaver. May I ask your indulgence for just a bit longer?

What I really need is a massage just like Carlos here…or to be Carlos’s masseur. Would you like to oil him up?

(And rub him down, down, down!)

Getting closer!

Three cheers for me – I’m getting a little closer to migrating the blog to my “real” site – www.AngloAmsSite.com. There’s actually a (rather ugly) placeholder there now, which directs you here; please visit it if only to update your bookmarks. I swear I’ll learn to make nice beautiful pages soon!

This is why they call it work

Other than that today was pretty grim at work – for some reason I couldn’t mold myself into a cooperative mind-set and sat grumpily about. We’re going mad arranging a conference for next month, and Mr. Grouch keeps piling on things he wants (and walking away after). His latest brain child is to get ‘give-aways’ (somehow paid for with taxpayers’ money) for the participants who have to be there anyway. This after checking and finding out that if the government buys refreshments for the attendees, those of us local may not have a bite or a drop of them. But we can pass them out, with whatever junk we can get. Of course this just complicates things. 340371522_36fa6e2946_o.jpg

340371522_36fa6e2946_o.jpgIn mitten drin, as it were, I’m also arranging a side-show and as if that weren’t enough I’m also in charge of our Combined Federal Campaign (for 120 people) charity drive. I’m such a giver. :) I wish I could lie back and relax like Mr. Lewis here…do you think his muscles are nice and loose or is he a tight one? How would you test your hypothesis?

Nerd meat

I should explain. A new show on television has really grabbed my attention. It’s Chuck on NBC on Monday nights at eight o’clock. (Check your local listings.) The idea is that by accident our hero Chuck is privvy to all of the intelligence secrets of all of our security and intelligence agencies, while being quite a normal guy in charge of the “Nerd Herd” which repairs computers at his local big-box computer store.

Obviously he has adventures with his two handlers, one from the CIA and one from NSA. The show explores the intersection of this secret, exicting and dangerous life with the boring normal existence he actually loves. Naturally there’s a love complication with his love interest and I’d call it comedy-action, more than action, but I really like it.

Now, all the ‘buzz’ is about Zachary Levi who’s nice enough looking but give me big ab.jpgtough guy Adam Baldwin who plays Chuck’s NSA handler. If you enlarge the picture you’ll notice a hint of chest hair. Lucky Chuckie to be handled by him!

That takes care of the nerd part – the meat comes from the delicious steak dinner C made for me. :) Chuckie may be lucky but I know I’m the most fortunate guy in the world to have my wonderful man.

At least the drought might be breaking

It was too rainy for me to walk tonight so no stretching shirtless or enjoying the beautiful sun like they have in Israel, like Michael Lewis enjoys so much…

A new man

As we wave goodbye to Mr. Lewis, we must get ready for our new man starting tomorrow. Here’s a sneak preview……any names?
